About Peek Show:
Peek Show is an informal and exciting experience between artists and patrons, all discovering new stories and worlds for the first time. Peek Show showcases new works from provincial performing artists, from text, to dance, to somewhere in-between.

After 10 years, we’re preparing to transform Peek Show into a new model. But before we do, we’re going to have one last hurrah of the Peek Show you know and love! Join us on November 14, 2026

Content Notes

We understand the precarious and risky place new work can occupy, especially personal material. We ask artists to consider Content and Accessibility Notes in advance of the performance. Impulse Theatre is attempting to create a safe space for both audience and artist to take risks, and requires transparency between its artists and audiences to ensure that each is supported.

New work is untested, and audiences and artists take a degree of risk in attending when the participating artists may have not discovered how their content may impact artists.

The Application:

We are seeking five to six in-development works from regional performing artists/companies/collectives..


Adjudication is based on your demonstration of ability to execute the project, artistic history, and available resources. Priority is granted to multidisciplinary projects.

Please note: due to the limited tech and performance time, technical requirements must be left to a minimum. Live sound cannot be connected to the PA system.

IMPULSE PROVIDES:

  • a 7 minute performance slot (scheduled at our discretion) during the 7pm performance

  • 15-to-20 minutes of Tech (based on total participants)

  • a mode to gather feedback/input from the audience

  • a $100-150 per artist honorarium for accepted projects

  • Up to 1-to-2 hours of no-tech rehearsal on November 12 & 13 between 12pm and 6pm. We will build the rehearsal schedule based on need and artist availability.

  • Up to 1 hour of mentorship with Impulse's Artistic Producer, Andrew Barrett, scheduled at a time determined between Andrew and participant
